Somebody signed me up for Netflix. I have no idea who or how. Now what?
Today I got a message from Netflix thanking me for signing up for a free trial. I did not do this. When I called to cancel it they said they had my credit card on file. Has my identity been stolen? Luckily both the address and credit card they had were not current, only the email address. What can I do to protect myself?
Okay so this was a false alarm. Turns out my mom signed up using my name and email because she used to have an account that she canceled so she couldn't do the free trial anymore but she didn't tell me.

Seems like you are safe for the moment. Make sure NETFLIX cancells the account so it don't reflect on yer credir report in the future. Also, if someone d/l's or orders movies.. Make sure the police know where they are shipped to.

I would notify your CC companies that your credit may have been comprimised because someone has obtained some info about you, albeit, old info. But that isn't to say, they aren't able to gain access to more recent info too. Also, tell netflix to cancel the account because it wasn't you that opened it.

If you have moved, it is also possible that someone in the old address is now using your identity.
