Who else on r/s is feed up with the few who continue?

To push their opinion about women preaching in the church? It seems that they have no idea whatsoever as to the purpose of Paul's writings in 1 Corinthians. Effectively what was happening in those days women in the Corinthian culture didn't receive and formal academic or religious education and as they were becoming converted they joined the New Testament church. It was the custom in those days for the women to sit apart from the men so that on one side of the church were women and on the other side were the men. The women were raising questions during the church service and calling out to their husbands who sat across the way and this was causing disruptions to the church service. The purpose of Paul's writings was not to place a gag on women ministering in the church but rather to promote unity. It is abundantly apparent that women also received spiritual gifts as we all do when we become born again and that these women were ministering in the church which is evidenced as we read from chapter 11 onwards. It is clear that Paul here is talking about women wishing to learn from their husbands as any questions they had could be answered at home. Paul is not talking about women ministering in the church but rather those wishing to learn. Is any one else fed up with this endless display of ignorance by the few who ride this subject almost as though they have nothing else to do???

    new here?

by the way your answer is just exactly what he/they/it wants. You might have a rationale for that part of the bible, however yours' is NOT the only interpretation . . . .and it doesn't mean other sects are less important (or correct) than you are . . . . one of the problems with stating interpretations as "fact".

The most spiritual people that I know of are women, if it was not for women most of us would not be saved, they go to church and pray for non-believers like I was, So women take your rightfull place, you have all the emotions to worship God and still be submissive to your husband, but not if your husband does not respect and love you in return.

Although it is annoying that one person keeps posting those verse, they are never really answered properly by Christians.

This idea that women were shouting out in church is just completely made up. Where are your sources for this belief?

Perhaps the real answer is that Paul was a misogynist who didn't like women. And believed men should be in complete control of his new religion.

No one takes Corinthians Guy seriously. It's one of the few things that most atheists and Christians can agree upon here.

Well I don't want women preachers but then being an atheist I don't want any preachers all they do is teach people that taking personal responsibility for your own actions is wrong and that blaming sky fairies is the real deal .

Summary for those who would reply with "tl;dr":

The only parts of the bible should be taken literally are the parts about damning all contrary beliefs, talking donkeys and snakes, the flood, and the passages about God hating gay people.

The person who keeps posting that question is a troll, he/ she is doing it just to make you angry. You are giving them exactly what they want by posting this question. They don't care about whether or not the quote is true, or the circumstances at the time, they just like that it appears anti-feminist.

If you will notice he didn't admonish the men for answering. Corinthian man has an agenda, so don't question him.
