ford freestar power issue?

Today our 2004 freestar, starts up fine, but after a couple mins, the radio wont work, the milage on the dash disappears, the heat and air wont work.what could be the issue?

Update:

we replaced our battery in Oct so its less then a year old.

I plan to take it to the dealer, but they arent open til monday. so I just wanted to get an idea of what we are looking at here. definately not something I will ignore or try and fix on my own.

Time to take it to the dealer and let them fix it. I normally don't give advice out regarding electrical problems because they are so difficult to trace sometimes. Really this is a job for the professional with all the correct trade tools. But sounds like your ECU might be acting up, or you straight up have an electrical problem. The only other thing I could remotely suggest is that your alternator could be dead/dying. I know that sounds weird, but there are many cases where what you are describing happens to a customer and they bring it in and turns out their alternator isn't putting out any charge to the system. Stranger things have happened. Anyway, its definitely an electrical issue that needs to be corrected. Go to the Ford Dealer.

Manhy times a problem like this is due to a very basic fault. Either corrosion on the battery terminals, or corrosion on the battery cables. You should start by cleaning your entire engine bay with GUNK orange engine cleaner. Follow your battery cables to see where they attach, and make sure these connections are showroom clean. This will insure optimum performance of your entire electrical system!

Hi, I would start with a fresh battery. If the battery is 3 to 4 years old get a new one. This could help in solving some of your problem. Good Luck
