What to do when your phone reads that you have a headset in when you don't?

I have a kyocera laylo the one from metro pcs and it is telling me to unplug the accessory to enable the speaker phone . But I don't have anything in it and I never did , only a charger. And i can not hear when someone is calling me from my phone and the only way i cant talk is if I put my mouth very close to the speaker . PLEASE HELP !

    there is probably some dirt in the hole where the headset would be plugged in and it is sensing that it is plugged in. take a paper clip and gently insert it into the hole and move it around. it should clear up the problem
