home school home ec.?

I take care of my little brother but his cleanliness is starting to get to me and my boyfriend. I want to put him in a home ec class to teach him some household skills but i know it would be embarrassing for him. is there a website I could use to give him lessons that could go towards his school credit too?

Update:

My older brother has the same issue with being clean. our mother is old fashioned so the boys in my family never had to do indoor chores growing up.

If you don't feel like you could make up your own lessons, there is a series of Home Ec. books designed for homeschoolers that you might want to try. "Home Economics for Home Schoolers" from Pearables (The Quiet Arts Series) http://www.pearables.com/ (It is religiously based, with Bible verses with the lessons, but those can be skipped over if desired.) Looking at their website, it looks like they have a series geared just for boys that might be perfect for what you want...

Or pick one chore to start with. Write up detailed, step-by-step, instructions on how to do it and tape the instructions up in the area where the chore is to be done. Walk him through it step-by-step, at least once--more often is better. Then have him do it on his own, following the instructions you've written up. If he misses a step, or doesn't do it right, go back over it with him and have him do it again. When he gets to the point that he can do it properly on his own, then you can move on to assigning a new chore. (If he's homeschooling, you don't have to use a written curriculum in order to add it to his "school" records.)

And I knew a guy who had never been allowed to step foot in his kitchen growing up. He knew nothing about washing dishes and was surprised to learn that it was the same skill he needed for cleaning glassware for his chemistry labs in college.

    Good luck.

Well you could just teach him things he needs to know. It is a fairly basic class. One week be cooking, another week be keeping the house organised. I think an online class in it would be boring. Hands on seems like the best way to teach a class like that.
