*NOTE: When i write G, i mean change in G and S as change in S*

Use the equation G=H-TS. if G is negative, then the reaction is spontaneous. G is free energy. a reaction that is spontaneous will try to reduce free energy.

    a. G = (-16*1000 j) - (300K)(50 j/K) = -31000j so spont.

    b. G = (12*1000 j) - (300K)(40 j/K) = 0 j so at equilibrium

    c. G = (-5*1000 j) - (200K)(-20 j/K) = -1000j so spont.

    d. G = (-5*1000 j) - (200K)(20 j/K) = -9000j so spont

    e. G = (-5*1000 j) - (500K)(-20 j/K) = 5000j so not spont.
