why don't i see successful black swimmers?
i'm hearing all this nonsense that black people have denser bones and that's why they can't swim as well as white athletes. give me a break! what do you think black people's bones are made of? lead? i don't know, maybe we do have a different bone density, maybe we don't, i'm not sure. but i'm pretty sure that's not the reason why. do you know or have any ideas why blacks aren't as successful at swimming? because i'm getting tired of seeing the black guy coming last every time i watch olympic swimming. and all these black countries hiring white athletes from other countries to swim for them, don't they have shame?!

Perhaps it is a cultural lack of interest. How many black people do you see on swim teams or ice skating, or gymastics? When I play competitive chess, I see maybe 1 woman and 2 girls out of 100 players. Theres only 1 woman ranked in the top 100 list in the world for chess and only 2 others are even close. Its more about player pools than race or gender when it comes to most sports.

Real Sports with Bryan Gumball did a story on this very subjuct a month or so ago. It has nothing to do with as physical aspects like bone density, that was basically justification used by white people to keep blacks out of white pools. The real reason is the segregation of blacks historically. They were not allowed on beaches or in white pools. There weren't many places for them to learn to swim. Because black parents couldn't swim or were afraid of water, they taught their kids the same habits. This is why black athletes have lagged behind in Olympic water sports.

hmm, well i dunno about the bone density, but i do know that black people have a muscle in their thighs that white people don't, which is why they're usually better runners.
it may be because they didn't take an interest in it or that the neighborhoods that encourage competitive swimming are usually rich white neighborhoods. or maybe there are some successful one and they just don't have as good of scores as the olympian ones. that is interesting though. i'm going to look into that more

Cullen Jones is a 2008 olympic medalist and he's black. So there is a successful black swimmer.
