What does için mean and when is it used? (Türkçe)?

this word is boggling me, i see it everywhere and i cant determine what it means.

    It means "for" and also, "in order to"; what we think of in English as prepositions *follow* the noun or verb in Turkish: "for me" - "benim için"; "for my friend" - "arkadaşım için"; "for a holiday" - "tatil için";

    "in order to sight-see" - "gezmek için".
