What great local places to eat on a budget in PR?

me and my husband aare going to Puerto Rico in june and want to experience authentic PR food. We don't want to go to franchise americanized restaurant chains. We don't mind going to hole in the wall, sanitary , good portions type of place in order to get it .

In Isla Verde is a restaurant called Metropol, it's across from he Ritz Carlton. It's a Cuban Puerto Rican restaurant but they have LOTS of Puerto Rican favorites on the menu. And it's very reasonable. I've been there several times and never had a bad meal. 6 of us once ate there for just over $100 with tip!

What part of PR are you going to be staying, will you be traveling around the island. IF your more specific about location you will get lots of recommendations.

Go to a place call Guabate. it located in the City of Cayey and it has all the Puerto Rican food you can imagine. Also go to the end and their is where you find the best places plus maybe a live band if you get lucky. If you want to see the beach try Luiqillo Beach. It has a 100 bars that also serve great food. Enjoy your trip.

Go to a san juan restaurant called Raices.

    It has PR authentic food.

check this out u will love it!

Also a restaurant called Casa Mofongo its great.

now, if you want something very typical and culturally authentic puertorrican then go to:

bayamon levittown near the beach there is a place called lechonera and you have to ask locals for this, ask in gas stations and near by stores, this hidden cute place its located in front of the punta salina beach.

also you can go to a place called guavate in cayey, but its very hard to get to the top of that mountain without proper guide, you can get lost unless you go with someone that knows PR very well. Another easier option is to go to el yunque national forest and their is a place to eat in the outdoors, its very traditional and its great, its also a lechonera ask the little souvenir stores near by and they will show you were is at.

    this is the place:

once you're adventurous then attempt Hattie's in o.ok.Cliff... the foodstuff isn't adventurous yet lots of folk are petrified of o.ok.Cliff (its no longer that undesirable, purely a working type community). Its Southern delicacies and somewhat expensive (yet properly worth it) and semi-formal yet they don't have a gown code. Its on Bishop Ave between Jefferson and Davis... interior the Bishop Arts District (an incredible eclectic procuring area of a hundred 365 days old brick warehouses became into shops and restaraunts). there is likewise an incredible indoors Mexican restaraunt there referred to as Vera Cruz... i in my view like it better than Hattie's and the costs there are quite good. yet the two are great. there is likewise Hibiscus on Knox-Henderson off of seventy 5. Very high priced yet somewhat good... in case you like sushi then visit Steele (do no longer endure in recommendations the streets there yet its around uptown). i like sushi and its as good because of the fact the sushi I even have eaten it in Japan and San Francisco and Maui... The cooks there and the fish shoppers for the eating place are very specific and its very sensible. Dallas has an incredible restaraunt scene... in case you like something in specific then only deliver me a word. I eat out thrice each week and prefer incredibly plenty any form of foodstuff obtainable.
