what do you think about art majors and art school in general? is it lame?

There are actually very few people out there who can "draw" and devote there lives to art. Art is actually in the business of communication, and you seem to be in the mindset that "art is for art's sake"

Lets start off with drawing. Drawing is the absolute foundation of art, and your sketchbook is much more than a bunch of pretty pictures; it's a collection of thoughts, ideas, drafts, observations, moments, etc. Film is art, too btw, so have fun in your world without any videos, tv, or movies whatsoever. When you shoot a movie, a director most likely graduated from art school or hires artists to plan the movie. Here's where the sketchbook comes in. Do you think movies are born from nothing, but a script? There are storyboards and plus you don't just learn art techniques in art school, you learn how to think and grow with your own ideas. They story and script come from a concept and that concept is what you have to defend for in the art world.

Moving on to things I'm more familiar about. Animation is a hybrid between all art forms. There's drawing in hand-drawn animations and in Flash animations. Claymations, and stop-motions are pretty self-explanatory. Here you say "with the computer nowadays you know. no body really needs you to draw anything precisely". That's bull. There's no computer that draws things out for you! Did you see Avatar? That was a movie ten years in the making almost entirely by human hands at computers. Granted, there were actors, but there images were overlaid and CGed as a base. Animation is Is the crossroads between tradition art and digital media and all your cartoons, advertisements, informercials, hell even sports games have animations on them. You know hen you see the scoreboard appear out of nowhere and then when you see reviews and stats on your favorite players? That's animation.

Graphic Design is something you'd probably wouldn't be able to live without unless you decided to camp ut in the middle of nowhere. Nearly all advertising on billboards, online, on tv,on everything you own, Coke cans; that is all Graphic Design. Hell, Gaia wouldn't exist without Graphic Design. Every logo, image, everything in your room, is a product of Graphic Design. (Except for your furniture, that was from Industrial Design which is still an artform you couldn't live without.) Think about every logo you know, it from Graphic Design, and again, they know how to draw

i think of the final thank you to realize childrens is to maintain the proposed lecture from sounding like paintings. Relate it to their every day lives. So my suggestion is to tie a modern-day paintings style right into a direction offering or degree application on the college. case in point, many paintings colleges have classes in encaustic medium and there are additionally various persons those days doing encaustic at abode on their very own because of availability of books on the technique. All you will desire to do is seek the stacks at Barnes & Noble (or on line at Amazon) to work out examples of what's being completed. Then, tie in this modern-day style with a quick historic previous of encaustic and you have a funky lecture. you ought to exhibit section artists' paintings and you ought to present some seen examples of paintings from artists of different time classes conventional for encaustic to form a connection between immediately's style and the rich historic previous of the medium's progression. only don't get too technical-the foremost purpose of a lecture is to excite the objective audience with opportunities no longer weigh them down with paintings. some issues i've got observe that are modern-day traits: a million. Macrame bracelets and necklaces [fiber arts] 2. Encaustic [portray] 3. iPhoneography [pictures: use of the iPhone has further on a huge upsurge in taking photos] 4. Artists Journals and different reminiscence books [e book arts] 5. mixed Media [low end being scrapbooking...the severe end being large canvas paintings utilising gel mediums, discovered products, and so forth.] 6. jewelry [fiber arts, steel paintings, the record is only approximately countless for the thank you to tie it to historic paintings traits] to incorporate the college interior the lecture mixture, incorporate some mushy prods for the form of ability and convenience in experimenting with a medium: all decrease than the supervision and careful preparation of a nicely recommended instructor. practice won't make suitable, yet suitable practice easily does: there's a reason to learn with a mentor or company and couched interior the right words your aim audience would be excited with the aid of the probabilities you tutor them. besides, i've got run on for rather awhile now. Haha! You get the assumption. stable success! i'm particular you will arise with something large.
