How do you get people to stop gathering around your desk at work?

There is a group of people standing at the cube behind me talking about deoderant and other bodily functions. I'm trying to work and they are annoying the he!! out of me! How do I get them to move on? They do this often. One of them is a manager, so I don't know what to say. I'm trying to listen to a CD, but it isn't helping.

Go to the sporting good department in a store and get some of the foam ear plugs hunters and trap shooter use, that should cut out most of the noise. Or just always be collecting for a charity or selling stuff at work, that always drives people away. If you have a pet put up lots of pictures and when they start to gather pull out the photo album, works with vacation or event pictures too. Fight nuisance with nuisance.

Pretend you're on your way to get coffee or use the restroom or something. Then stop by the conversation and join it or listen for like 30 seconds. If you don't know them just pretend you overheard (you obviously did) and laugh and say something about how ridiculous the conversation they're having is (joking). Then make a comment about how loud they are. and ask how you're supposed to get any work done (joking). Then continue off to the bathroom or coffee or whatever (don't make it look like you got up just to say that)

    They should take the hint.

Source(s): The point I'm trying to make is, say what you have to say but do it in a light hearted way so you don't come off as a bytch especially around the manager.

Start placing rotten eggs or stink bombs around your cube. They'll rush out of there pretty fast. Or come to work for a few days wearing a nasty smelling scent.

  • Munch on raw garlic. At first you might not like it so, but after so much you will learn to endure it if you really do want the fiends to move on. Garlic will work on average every time.

Once you have learned to endure it will also give your immune system a boost.

There's not much you can do if the manager's included. Maybe jokingly say it's hard to concentrate with all this noise. That might do the trick. - Good luck.

Ask the politely if they could move away, as you need to concentrate. And ca not whilst they are standing there.

dont shower, or tell them to check out the new microwave ! OR jsut tell them RIGHT OUT! that you dont want them around you? And your manger should see that as a MAN thing to do and maybe promote you.

Tell them to move, or start emitting bad smells

Eat a can of beans and let a few rip.
