Swimming Diving Hair problems with chlorine?
My daughter recently started diving. Most of the girls put a leave on conditioner on their hair right before going into the pool. We have recently started that and the hair feels better when lessons are over then we shower shampoo condition and her hair feels nice soft and smooth BUT once it is dry after the shower it feels like it is coated with wax it is not soft feels almost like we didnt rinse the conditioner out....we did and rinsed it well.
Last night I tried vinegar hoping to strip away any residue but NO LUCK the hair feels the same still. Any ideas on what we can use to get the hair normal feeling after the pool/shower/conditioning treatments. And we dive not swim so a hair cap isnt an option
Thanks

My daughter has hair to her fanny, is in the pool 10+ hours per week and wears no cap! She uses products from PoolHead. They have a pretreatment that stays on the hair but then shampoos off. Her hair is soft, shiny, and gorgeous! She also uses Xtreme Shampoo and Recovery Conditioner. It also keeps the hair from turning green. Hope this helps.

I'm an experienced swimmer and diver, and I've had similar problems. The best solution is to, as you've been doing, put on leave-in conditioner. Then, when you shower afterwards, only shampoo. Extra conditioner will mess the hair up. Let hair dry, and be sure to comb it out very well. That should do the trick. If your problem persists, your daughter probably has naturally greasy hair. You'll have to just let it be and wash it as good as you can afterwards.

the chlorine really wont do much damage to the hair. i do diving for the high school team. i don't put anything in my hair before i dive or after and my hair is perfectly fine. it only gets damaged when i have to re straighten my hair every night. attempt doing it without anything and see if that helps?
