I would recommend either Fallout 3, Oblvion or GTA the most. They all offer so much game time. I never liked Fallout 3 because I was scared of those ghouls -_-

Also Mass Effect is good if you are into the whole Sci-Fi Prospect.

Heavenly sword dont buy it, its not that great its just a ripoff of God of war, the game was overhyped. But yeah virtua fighter is awesome,no doubt about that.You would want to buy GTA 4 on April 29th, since its predecessors are quite successful despite the controversies, but those are because of ppl who took the game too seriously , and the game is coming back to its roots, liberty city( so no more miami vice themed or 'boyz in the hood' themed city), it will provide the same good feeling gamers get in GTA3(which is the best so far for me). Metal Gear Solid 4 is another game you would want to buy, but not sure though when they r going to release it. It will have tons of cool new features, the characters from all the MGS series is reportedly to have an appearance in the game, and this is btw the last game in the series. The orange box is a good bargain you would want to look out for, it has 5 good games inside for the price of 1:Half life 2, half life 2 ep 1, half life 2 ep 2, Portal, Team fortress 2. Guitar hero 3 is another good game, its has 70 over classic rock songs to play with, plus it has a wireless guitar now.And since you mention RPGs, look out for Final fantasy 13 coming out later this year.

Offline RPGs however are hard to find, I HATED Dragon Age , but everyone esle I know loved it .

Risen is a nice game .

Yeah, Assassins Creed 2 is what you're describing. But Fallout 3 satisfies all the parts, including "not always horror." (I'm assuming there is some horror involved). It's a shooter/RPG combo.

Dragon age: Origins is an RPG that is serious but you can also fall in love with a character in it and has some really heart wrenching moments.

Mass Effect 1 and 2 are good also.

If you have never played it, try Half-Life 2. I guarantee you will not want to stop playing. This is one of my favorite games of all time. I recommend you get The Orange Box, which is a bundle of five Valve games: Half-Life 2, Half-Life 2: Episode 1, Team Fortress 2, Half-Life 2: Episode 2, and Portal. The platforms are: PC, Xbox 360, and PS3. All of those games are FANTASTIC. I highly recommend these to you.

Bioware are good for that: great storylines, great action and great gameplay too. I thought Dragon Age was brilliant but it's not for everyone. I'd recommend Mass Effect and then the second one if you like the first.

Alan Wake is out in a few weeks... that's got all the things you are looking for...
