Well, you can feel depressed but are not.

However, I ain't sure about being depressed without feeling it.

Because, depression, it self, is a kind of feeling..

Yes kind of that... You made a good question. I can apply it to my self, in earlier time...

If you have experienced a boring environment or whatever, bad friends and that you seeem to end up in problems etc time after time, then you could have been mentally numbed in a way you forget that the way you live, is not a good one. If you have struggled and it has become a steady pattern.

You should be glad, you should feel comfort, you be happy and laugh, you should love someone and be loved. If a person has been this "numbed", it can take some time to re-gain the open consciousness about it, it may start with more or vivid dreaming and nervousness etc. It is, now for you, a step in your life, an insight, at least insight that you want or should need more insights.

Once you have this awareness, you may still think that you don't know what to do. Then just think, I don't know what and how but I wish I can. That you have to kind of reprogram yourself. And since the solutions may not be there not, to reprogram the vison of paths you would want bla bla bla (!)

Even if you don't feel depressed, think technically then, the way you live, is it a way that will lead you on, or are you standing still?

If I were in your position, the questions I would ask myself are

    1) Am I coping well?

    2) Has this condition been with me for a long time?

    3) Is the condition getting worse?

If you're mildly depressed, that's not such a bad thing, but a depression can get worse. You might want to look for one or two standard screening tests.

Treatment usually begins with seeing the GP, but remember this is not a mental health professional. Proven to help with mild to moderate depression are cognitive therapy, the cognitive book Feeling Good Handbook by Burns, and The Depression Cure by Ilardi. A number of insomnia books are based on proven methods: No More Sleepless Nights by Peter Hauri, and Say Goodnight to Insomnia by Gregg Jacobs

The Ilardi book is recommended for conditions not severe enough to be called depression.

You can be in a situation caused by the external world that imposes a depressing situation on you and you feel the depressing consequences of your situation. With this type of depression you don't have the massive chemical imbalances and you have a more even wave line that is just under the the stable line of balance. Brain chemical born Manic depressives have an extreme zig zag wave line that goes way above the stable line and way below in almost unchartable patterns.

yes u can be depressed without feeling depressed bce some people do some thing in which u don't see it or feel it but others are noticing because everything should be a balanced one ,to be extreme in any thing is unusual for example there are some people are depressed but they don't feel it bec deep inside they r refusing it and their subconscious mind is telling him/her to go and do something like excessive cleaning or every day shopping, obsessiveness is also part of depression.

As long as you don't feel depressed then that is great news, but be conscious of the fact that maybe other people are seeing things in you that you don't recognize yourself yet. It can creep up on you, so just keep being positive and you'll be fine.

technically, depression is when you feel depressed, not when you do some things that depressed people stereotypically do. it can just be normal habit.

good for you for not caving in and actually getting depressed when people accuse you of being depressed.

    :)
