Religious fanaticism of any kind is dangerous. Look at the historical evidence. Personally I think the world would be a better place if everyone was humanist but I do not expect others to agree with me. People follow many different religions and they all think that they are the ones who are right. Even within the same religion there are major differences of opinion. More tolerance and less violence by word or deed would help.

Yes. But so too would be the anti-West rhetoric offered by many Muslims. You cannot win any debate by being so ignorant.

I believe that moderate Muslims need to stand up for themselves a bit more, instead of just sitting in the shadow of these extremists. There are millions of Muslims out there who have no interest in terrorism or any anti-West ideologies but they self-oppress by not fighting back and standing up for true, non-militant Islamic values.

Perhaps you ought to talk to the Muslims that make it possible. When some pinhead blows themselves up in a crowd its safe to bet a paycheck they are Muslim. As long as that part is true, you guys are going to take heat for it.

If you want to change the perception you have to change the reality first.
