No its not like meta gear solid, this game you play a professional contract killer who simply kills people for money. Most of his work comes from a agency called ICA.
Don't buy Silent Assassin or Contracts bc they are crap but you should only get blood money.
They are making a new hitman game for the ps3 that will be named Hitman 5 and due for release on 28/11/2011. I cant wait for this game.

Hitman Codename 47 (Nov 30, 2000) Hitman 2 Silent Assassin (Oct 7, 2002) Hitman Contracts (May 30, 2004) Hitman Blood Money ( Feb 3, 2006) I suggest Contracts or Blood Money. Both are excellent games

I played Hitman Blood Money and had not played the other games and I followed the story well. Although it would not hurt to read the story of the other games on wikipedia or elsewhere.

You play as Agent 47. Agent 47 works for The Agency. Agent 47 gets payed a **** ton of money for killing people. Fun game. Independant story. play it.
