What can you be tested for when you are constantly tired?

I am female, 40ish, I have hypothyroidism taking my meds regularly being tested every 6 months. I am not anemic. I can sleep 5 hours or 9 hours and always feel the same. I used to be an active person until I started feeling this way. Now I just feel I don't have the energy to do even the things I enjoy. My children are above the age of 18, so I don't have to 'run' after small children all day. I am a housewife. Does anyone have any experience with this or any suggestions? I don't have health insurance, so I can't just go to the doctor to get extensive testing and that is what they would want to do. I would like to know where I should start maybe from someone who has experienced this! HELP!! Thanks in advance!

Update:

I am having some personal problems, I didn't really think I was depressed enough to feel syptoms of depression though. I guess I should research this.

you can feel tired for alot of reasons stress can cause alot of problems in your health and do you smoke? smoking takes away alot of your good cells and drains the body of the oxygen you need, I know because I also feel like im never rested enough and always tired or just feel drained and the older we get the more we need to keep our bodys healthy

Low energy is a symptom of about a dozen possible things, but the most common are nutritional deficiencies. drweil.com is one of my fave diet and health sites out there. He pushes his books pretty hard, but to be fair they ARE good books, and the local library should have them.

Now I know people with thyroid issues can get type 2 diabetes and vice versa. So check yourself for any symptoms of diabetes too, like frequent urination, constant thirst, being very tired after meals, etc.

Depression CAN make people feel tired a lot, but then not getting enough B vitamins or D can cause depression, so we're back to my FIRST idea.

That's where I'd start you though.

You need to eat raw liver. Sounds crazy, I know but it is the most nutrient dense food on the planet and it can restore the energy of anyone. Ancient people have done this forever. Cooking the liver will limit its effects but it's still good. I recommend buying some liver from a reliable source that sells grass fed beef products perhaps at your local farmer's market. The live must be grass fed. Freeze it for 2 weeks to kill off any potential bacteria (very unlikely if your source is a good one). Then its perfectly safe to eat by itself. Just like liver pate. I grate mine into some raw eggs and drink it like that. Great energy boost!

vitamin B12 deficiency, diabetes or maybe some other underlying cause,You may be suffering from depression apart from the tiredness you don't often feel the other symptoms until they are more apparent. These are all I can think of at present but really the only 1 that can help really is the professionals so my advise would be to see your Dr. & he/she will maybe help with a diagnoses that is not going to cost £/$s or work out a payment plan you really do need this in case it may be serious & your life may depend on it.I hope it helps.Good Luck.
