How big for a toddler quilt?

I'm making a toddler quilt for my younger sister (18 months). It's not going to be used as a bed covering, just more of a throw. Anybody have suggestions on how big it should be?

What a nice big sister you are!

A 'standard' crib size, like 36"x45", won't be really usable for very long. Personally, I would aim for a finished size somewhere around 45"x60" - she'll be able to use it as a cuddle and nap quilt for years to come.

    Great project - good luck!
