During the week people pick up things like meat pies when they are on the run.
On weekends people like to get together around the barbecue for barbecued prawns - you call them shrimps - and barbecued sausages, chops and steaks and to drink cold beer, wine and lemon aide and ginger beer.
The Sunday Roast is still alive and well in a lot of Australian homes although it does not get the coverage that it used too. Also a lot of descendants of Italian migrants still have dishes like Spaghetti Bolognese, Lasagna and Tiramasu that are not available a lot in public but are eaten at home and if you have Italian Australian friend you might get to share with them if invited.
The same goes for other ethnic groups such as the people from Lebanese, Vietnamese, Polish, Chinese and Philippine backgrounds. For my part I like to try the recipes from the different ethnic groups such as the Moussaka. There are some delicious foods out there.
Happy dining!!!

The many waves of immigration to Australia from various nations across the world have historically played an important role in shaping the direction of Modern Australian cuisine, and which is still evolving today due to changing migration patterns as these immigrants brought and introduced their culinary traditions to the general Australian public, as well as influence from international culinary trends. Australia's Asian neighbours, particularly China and Japan from East Asia, as well as Malaysia, Thailand, and Vietnam from Southeast Asia are major cultural influences. Similarly, Mediterranean influences from Greek, Italian, and Lebanese cuisine are very common, with many members of their communities having arrived in Australia during the 1950s and 1960s. More recently, the cuisines of France, India, Spain, and Turkey are emerging as important contemporary influences.
