Do fish need other fish to help them live longer?

Like are they social or do they like to be solitary.

Fish is a Japanese Gold Fish.

While Goldfish are a social animal and do prefer the company of other goldfish they can also live just fine alone.

I would suggest that unless they are in a huge tank they will live longer alone, a bigger group, the more polluted the water gets, and the sooner they die. Better to live happily alone than die with company in an overcrowded tank.

How social fish are varies greatly from one species to another, and sometimes among individuals within a species.

Goldfish tolerate other goldfish in their tank, but they also do just fine when kept singly, so I don't think your fish needs a fish companion.

    No. Goldfish are fine.
