How do i adjust the balance on my laptop speakers?
I have a Dell Inspiron 1721 and when i play music through either my earphones or while linked to my stereo i only get playback form 1 speaker. I cant find anyway to to adjust the settings and am starting to think there may be a problem.
any help gratefully received.
I'm running Vista, as my OS. Does that make a difference?
no good guys, any other ideas?

Download a new audio driver form here.

If that doesn't work, it will be hardware.

In my Toshiba Satellite here is what I would have to do. Hopefully it will be the same or close for yours. Right click on the speaker icon by the clock. Left click Playback Devices. A window should open with the Playback tab showing. Select the speakers and click properties at the bottom. Click the Levels tab. Click the Balance box there. Adjust if necessary and click OK. Click OK to close out the other windows. Hope this helps. Good Luck.
Additional Comment: I have Vista 64 bit in the Toshiba.
