Whats the charges for accompining a arson while being a minor?
Okay my friend decides it would be cool to light a car on fire. So we do. Now were being charged with arson. I want to know whats the worst I can get, and whats the least I could get. And will this effect my college chances, and sport scholarships? No bull answers either please. This is serious.
We have already admited and are going to be charged.
Ohio, and im 15. For the college thing. Im a year ahead in math and science. I have scored accelerated on all of my OAT's and passed the OGT as a freshman. I was just there, I didnt do it. And nobody was harmed, and It total a car. Which stands at $3000 in damage. Im in for valedictorian. If im in Juvenile Detention would I get any schooling at all? Plus, they said, before the trial, that he is getting 3 months, and charges. That said its a second degree felony and were to be charged as minors. This is my first thing on my record..

Depends on if they charge you as an adult (can't say for sure without knowing your age, state, etc.).
I'll average the two and use NJ as a sample.. Assuming no plea bargain, `1-2 years in a juvenile or adult facility, up to $2000 in fines, plus possible restitution of all damages to the vehicle owner, up to and including the total value of the car. As far as college and scholarship, it will depend on the rules of each one, but yes, it could have a negative effect. If you are placed into custody, obviously you won't be playing sports.
That said, if you have a clean record, a plea bargain is likely that MAY avoid significant time and keep matters to a juvenile level. If you do not have a lawyer, now would be the time to retain one, Arson is a serious charge,

Arson is prosecuted with attention to degree of severity in the alleged offense. First degree arson generally occurs when persons are harmed or killed in the course of the fire, while second degree arson occurs when significant destruction of property occurs.
Both degrees you will probably have jail time, public service, and lots of money to pay.
You aren't getting into colleges due to that.
