let me guess your one of those dog owners who's excuse for letting the dog do whatever it wants is " i don't want to hurt her " you have to go through with hearing her whine

The movement or noise of the train may bother him. Try giving him a Kong stuffed with something he really likes. Work on sit/stay so that he may settle down in the carrier or behave in your lap.
