Is Marquez-Vasquez IV an ethical dilemma?
We all know it's bound to be a fight of the year candidate, but does bloodlust justify the abnormally high risk for serious, potentially life-threatening injury? I realize a fighter can have his career or his life ended at any time in the ring, but given Vasquez' and Marquez' history, there's almost a guarantee of permanent damage.
I'm all for personal responsibility, and I would never suggest that these two warriors shouldn't be allowed to fight each other, but I don't want to see another death in the ring. Will the elevated risk of injury dissuade you from watching this fight? Will it make your more likely to watch it?

I honestly wish this fight wasn't happening even though the first 3 fights were some of the best fights of all time and the Vazquez-Marquez trilogy is arguably the best in boxing history because all 3 fights were topnotch entertainment (in almost every trilogy, there is at least one dud but that's not the case for Vazquez-Marquez). They both proved enough in the first 3 fights and Vazquez got the better of the series, 2-1; they should just leave it at that (although I'm sure that's tough to accept for the guy who trailed in the series, which in this case, is Marquez) and I don't see any reason why they need to fight a third time- I could see if the series ended 1-1-1 but if Marquez wins the fourth fight, then they'll be tied and of course, Vazquez will want to try and avenge the loss and there will most likely be a 5th fight which will just dole out more unnecessary punishment to both guys.
They are both passed their prime and in the case of Vazquez, he doesn't even LOOK the same- look at his eyes and you'll see that he doesn't even look like the same person because after the third fight with Marquez, he suffered a detached retina and had to get reconstructive surgery which was the reason why he didn't fight for such a long time after that bout- it just seems like an unnecessary risk for him to take; I personally would have retired after the third Marquez bout and rode off into the sunset knowing that I got the better of a trilogy against an excellent (and arguably, more skilled) fighter in Rafael Marquez. BUT Vazquez is a fighter who makes his living as a professional boxer and if he wants to continue fighting and risk permanent blindness, he has just as much right to do that as any other person (assuming he passes all the required medical tests).
In Vazquez's last fight, he went life and death with a fringe contender who hadn't won a fight in his past 6 bouts and even though Vazquez got a stoppage victory, the fight was even on 2 judges scorecards at the time of the stoppage and Vazquez looked like a shot fighter. Marquez on the other hand also looked rusty in his comeback bout but nowhere near as badly as Vazquez- he stopped his opponent in 3 rounds but he didn't go life and death for 9 rounds against a fringe opponent like Vazquez did. That is the reason why I think Marquez will win this fight- he is the much fresher fighter currently but I feel that if Vazquez didn't suffer the eye injuries and they fought a fourth fight directly after the third one, Vazquez would have won because I feel that Vazquez was the stronger and more determined fighter in his prime, not to mention the fact that he's naturally bigger than Marquez.
With all of that being said, I feel that if they want to fight each other for a fourth time (which they are, this weekend), then no one should have the right to stop them, assuming that, as previously stated, that they both pass all of the pre-fight medical tests that are required for all fighters to take. And boxing is a business- the hurt business to be exact, and the fact of the matter is that they will not make nearly as much money fighting anyone else than they will fighting each other again, so if they are willing to take the risks for the payday and the glory, then all power to them and hopefully they will both turn out okay with no permanent damage while giving us another great fight at the same time.
I am a boxing fan who loves great fights, so I will definitely be watching the fight this Saturday (in addition to the excellent undercard bout between defending champion Yonnhy Perez against Abner Mares) but at the same time, I hope and pray that they will both come out of the fight with no lasting or permanent damage- whether or not that will happen is what we'll find out this weekend.

I watch the trilogy over and over again! I cannot get enough of it. With that being said I loved all 3 fights and both MEN gave it their all, while putting their life on the line each time. I will forever curse Gary Shaw and Frank Espinoza for putting this fight together! Haven't this 2 men given you enough money and memories that will last a lifetime? Two great men are going to fight for a 4th time that may or may not cause physical harm but it will definitely cause mental and emotional damage. I am not excited to see this fight because of the harm it may cause but I am VERY excited to see Yonnhy Perez vs Abner Mares fight. This fight will be just as or maybe even more exciting than the main event.

First, examine into the efficacy of the drug. If the drug DOES have prven constructive outcomes then i could visit Mexico, have the vendor mail it directly to him/her. If, after careful learn on the efficacy of the drug and it form of feels to be a quack scientific care, i could refuse to conform with my chum's desires yet could grant your help and love for the size of the ailment. I somewhat have an identical situation. The drug that i choose is against the regulation in MY State. I avert it via going out of State, making my practise there and bringing back the practise fairly than the unlawful substance and, even yet it somewhat is technically unlawful, i will coach that using the practise does not violate the spirit of the regulation. The prepartaion IS secure and powerful and is not a quack scientific care. The drug is whether or not, used recreationally in that is unique state, hence that is illegality. that is basically a question of political tension to maintain it unlawful as a results of that is criminal institutions and not because of the fact of that is efficacy or lack thereof. Its going to be a war - plain and simple.
I cant see there being lasting damage from it though (well no more than what has already been done to them during their careers)
This is boxing - not tiddlywinks.

this is the first i heard that they were going to fight again.
if ali and frazier had fought again, or gatti and ward, they could have been seriously hurt (or more hurt as the case may be), and i fear for these two warriors going at it again.
