Will digital downloads take over Blu-ray as the next format?

Read into something where places like iTunes and such which allow people to pay for and download TV shows, music and such will be the end of Blu-ray. Is this true, or will Blu-ray be around for a while?

Only issue I see with digital downloads myself is that if my hard drive dies on me (which it will eventually happen) that I will have to re-pay and download the content again. Or will it work something like Steam where you can just download and install without having to go through the process of being limited to so many copies (iTunes)?

Which do you think will win, Blu-ray or digital downloads?

Update:

Another thing I was going to add, is some of the stuff on iTunes is only 720p, and as far as downloading and streaming video, to download a 30-40 GB 1080p movie (Blu-ray), well, I don't think we have the network infrastructure to do it.

I pay $55 per month for 100 GB of bandwidth. That's roughly 2 1/2 movies a month. Then, you've got to add in the other stuff people download (video drivers @ 100 MB, for example).

I personally don't see it happening, but I just thought I'd ask how others felt about it.

I believe it will..... think about it, it's already popular among most movies and songs. I think they ought to create movies on a USB drive that could replace DVDs... now that would be amazing
