Summer School???!!! PARENTS, if this were your child, what would you do?? Please help with grade school age?

So this kid comes home with a letter, advising parents that their child would benefit from summer school. The grade is passing, but the letter clearly states that this child would benefit from your school board's summer school course.

Then you find out that quite a few other students (1/3 to 1/2 approx) with the same grade and grade level were also issued these letters and recommendations.

Would you sent the kid to summer school, or stick with the original plans (Vacation, summer camp, etc) ?

Summer school is about two weeks out of the entire summer.

Update:

No charge, it's free, and it seems that the letters were sent to students who have grades like C+ or lower.

I would either do the summer school, or if it interferes with your summer plans, I would stick with your plans and figure out a tutor or home school teacher that would come out to your home, or go to where the work, this way your child gets one on one tutoring and the learning that the school suggested. Call around to the schools in your area and find out where you can get a tutor, or home school teacher that works during the summer. I think that this would be a great idea for your child, especially if their grade's arent great they are just passing.

When I was younger I started getting bad grades, my mom got a home school teacher/ tutor to come out to our home 2 or 3 times a week, and I started getting straight A's. I prefered this teaching method much better while I was behind, because once you get behind in school, it is nearly impossible to catch up at school, if you do not have any extra help.

The best thing you can do for your child is to help them not fall behind. You should do all you can to help them be ahead. Falling behind, can be devistating for children and teens.

If you do not like the idea of tutoring or home schooling during the summer, I would suggest that you have your child do the summer school. If you do choose to try the tutoring/ home schooling for the summer, you will probably see a great improvment, and you might want to keep the tutor even after school starts back up. I really enjoyed my home tutoring, it helped me with my school work when I was so behind at school, and it really helped me with my self esteem. I also did the home schooling tutoring through a home school that I went to once a week and brought the work home, out of the 2, I really liked the teacher who came to my house a lot better. I was able to see my teacher more often, and more time was spent on me and my needs, I think it was and is a great thing. You just have to do what works for your child, and I believe that is keeping them ahead in education. Best wishes, God bless you anbd your family.

The school likely just gave these students a passing grade so they didn't fail. I would change my plans if I had to so my child could go to summer school since it is only for two weeks. At the very least it may make the child work harder the following year so they didn't have to go to school in the summer the following year. If the school is recommending this then I would listen to them and make my child attend summer school and not send them the message that summer vacation is more important than their education.

If a lot of students are getting this letter, and their grades are fine, then i think you should just stick with your summer plans. But if you believe your child's grade is to low, then i think you might want to do summer school.

no longer all people has the money to attend inner maximum schools, and that they do no longer undertaking out scholarships willingly. the interior maximum college i attended became basically like a public college basically far greater costly and a low high quality of practise. the infants nonetheless used a similar hen language, the basically use a 26 letter word earlier it so as which you don't be conscious. additionally the 5A public college i attend correct now has a plenty greater suitable academic application than the interior maximum college that i went to. the only benefit a observed in going to own college is they did no longer could take the state attempt. I intend on all of my baby attending a public or parochial college.
