When I was younger I got a job at a horse farm. There was this one devilish mare who belonged to the owner of the farm. Nobody was allowed to go into the stall with the horse, thought she was fine to handle outside of the stall. We could bring her in from the field to her stall so long as we stood in the doorway to remove the halter and then got out of there. But nobody but the owner could go in to catch her in the stall. This mare was the worst around feeding time, she'd practically tear the walls down kicking and rearing.

For feeding, we had a ground feeder bucket that we kept outside her stall. For breakfast, we would put the feed in the bucket, the push it under the door. Once the owner turned the horse out, we could clean the stall and pull the bucket back out. Then once dinner came around, we could fill the bucket outside the stall again and push it back under the door.

Well, one day the breakfast feeder had forgotten to pull the bucket out after cleaning the stall. I was only working the dinnertime feed that day, and I could see the bucket sitting a couple feet into the stall. The mare was calmly munching hay in the back of the stall, so I figured I could quickly reach in and grab the bucket. I opened the door, and the next thing I remember I was lying outside the stall with blood running down my face. The bucket was in my hands and the door was shut but not latched. I just have reached the bucket, but then the horse must have kicked me square in the forehead.

That night I decided the job just wasn't worth it, and I quit. This horse was really easy to ride, just horrendous on the ground. I later heard from someone else working there that the owner sold the horse to a woman who wanted a nice family horse to live in her backyard. The lady came to try the horse and the owner met her in the ring with the horse already tacked up. Then they untacked the horse afterwards, and the owner sent to lady to the office to examine the horse's papers while she offered to put the horse away herself. So the lady never got to see how the horse acts in the barn. What a lousy way to cheat someone into buying a completely dangerous horse. This lady had small children, and she was going to keep the horse at her house. I hope that nobody got killed!

While riding in a group of about 15 on a trail nearly all the horses spooked at a road crossing when a cement truck went by. A lot of riders (13 by the time it was all said and done) got thrown and my best friend got trampled by her horse. They airlifted her out by helicopter after medics got her back to the camp. The helicopter had to land in the outdoor riding arena so they had to bring in fire trucks because of the risk of sand being sucked into the engine. All the horses in camp spooked of course and everyone was chasing horses for hours after the helicopter left to take my friend to the hospital. They considered it a severe trauma case because of the trampling and she swore she couldn't move anything below her neck.

So anyway, she got released from the hospital that night. Her injuries- bruised ribs and a big hoof print shaped bruise dead center on her chest.

My pony and I where cantering down a hill at a rather fast speed and there was a small creek at the bottom of it, where it goes back into another hill. Well, we came down the hill and jumped the creek and the log after it and he did a small pigroot (and me being too big for him started to come off) I landed on the ground on my feet and he came straight up under me again and I was sitting just behind his head (just to prove the strength of 12.2 hh ponies) then he got to the top and flicked his head and reared a little (it wasn't really a rear but I don't know what else you'd call it) and I slid down to his hind quarters and almost off again when he pig-rooted AGAIN and I slid into place - just to canter all the way back home and to buck me off on the driveway anyway (: the end

I was riding a friends pony. We were going over some cross rails and the pony decided to buck and rear 3 or 4 times before the fence then jump it side ways. I fell off and cracked and chipped my hip. That was about 2 years ago and I still love riding.

It's not really crazy haha. But I was in Alabama with my friend who was going to school there, and she was giving me a lesson on her horse. I was having a lot of trouble getting him to canter since he's DEFINITELY not a beginner horse and I am a beginner. Well I got it and half way around the arena I lost my inside stirrup. While trying to get it back I lost my other one, then completely lost balance trying to get them both back. I fell forward onto his neck while he was at a full speed canter I couldn't get a hold of the reins because I was clinging around his neck for dear life and he wouldn't respond to my voice. I tried to stay on as long as I could but then tried to calculate where to fall (it was either huge pile of horse sh*t, nasty mud or a moderately muddy rocky part) I dropped into the kinda muddy part and slammed my head. The horse stopped right away and kinda looked around like "Wait what? Why are you down there..."

my trainer and like 7 other ppl(at different times) were hand grazing a pony named charlie and with charlie u have to pay alot of attention because he will easily look one way and then wait til u arent paying attention and run off. my trainer and the 7 other ppl started a charlie ran away from me club lol and then i was playing around with him and stuff and he tried to eat a chair, girths, brushes, hoof picks, and a sweat scraper

also a scary story (for me atleast) i was riding a horse named beau and he doesnt like to work so i was having an "ok" day on him and then i did a PERFECT posting trot and then all of the sudden it was not a spook BAMMMMMMM im falling i hit the ground sat up and he kicks the hoof was like 6 in away from my face and then i rode him the other day and i jumped and he flew over the jumps and was speeding around the entire arena he was going really really fast and jumped the jumps like 4 ft early i was kinda scared to jump him after that he wouldnt slow down or anything and then after he spazzed out i was having a PERFECT canter and then BAMM my stirrup broke

ME AND BEAU ALWAYS HAVE PERFECT MOMENTS AND THEN BAMMM SOMETHING BAD HAPPENS ITS WEIRD SO I DONT LIKE HAVING PERFECT MOMENTS ON HIM ANYMORE LOL

once my friend was riding an ex-racehorse, going over a few cross-rails, and at one he completely flipped out and started galloping around. She lost her stirrups and was sitting in front of the saddle, trying to get him to stop while he galloped and bucked alternately, even jumping over a 3-foot oxer before he finally got tired and stopped. She didn't even fall off. Man, I wish I could ride like that.

Well, I guess my craziest stories came from a poorly trained horse at my old barn. There was this big 17.2 warmblood gelding. He was only four years old and he did not have much training. The owner was deathly afraid of him and refused to even go into the stall until someone had already haltered him and taken him out for her. He started to learn very bad habits, such as biting, kicking, and rearing. He kicked my old trainer in the chest one day and she couldn't speak for a week. When he was led outside or inside he would stop and rear like nothing you have ever seen before. The only thing you could do is watch his every move and get the hell back when he reared up. The girls doing the chores were terrified to bring him in and out and eventually started refusing to take him out. I had years and years of experience and after awhile it even started to scare me. I didn't know what to do, and I asked my trainer. She wanted to send the horse off to training to learn some manners but the owners still refused to sell him or send him away. I rode him quite a bit and he was a lovely horse, but out of no where we would be trotting along and he would throw a huge buck sending me 15 meters across the ring, with no warning at all. When I rode outside he would be fine, and then again he would suddenly go into a bucking fit. When I tried to kick him forward he would throw several leaps until I was off. After a few concussions I was scared to ride him and I didn't like being around him. There was an older girl doing some training rides on the horse. After throwing her just about everyday, she started to fear him as well. It was the most ridiculous thing ever. There was no one around to properly ride the horse. Our trainer would say "oh, you can ride him for gods sake. He's easy". Yet she was never around to ride him herself. We tried to work on his ground manners but his owner would come out later and poke him with a crop and throw cookies in the stall. It did not help at all. When I led him outside I expected the worst everyday, and one time as he pulled up on the lead rope my shoulder dislocated and I was in shocking pain for minutes until it went back in. It continued for months, and my shoulder dislocated a few more times until it became a regular problem for me. One day I was leading him outside, just expecting another day. I didn't realize the horse had been kept in a stall for three days when I led him outside. He was usually good going outside compared to inside. Without paying attention I saw the horse rear from the corner of my eye. I heard a thunk noise and looked at him. I felt a warm stream drizzle down my face, and when I held my hands in front of me I could see them fill with pools of blood. I started to feel very dizzy and I honestly thought I was going to die. Thank god I didn't. It was a huge wake up call to the owners though and they eventually decided to let the horse go to training. I left that barn, but I heard the horse is back now and doing much better. I just cannot believe that some owners let their horses get that bad.
