Any home remedies for my dog's bleeding chin?
My English Mastiff has a problem with acne under her chin (diagnosed by a vet). Over the last month or so she's gotten into the habit of scratching her chin, or bumping it, and the acne bumps start bleeding. She doesn't seem to be in any pain, doesn't flinch when I examine her, but I would like to know if there's any home remedy's that can relieve the problem? I lost my job a few months ago, and want to try to heal her at home than take her to the vet for something minor if I can help it. Any advice is welcome! Thanks!

Canine acne can typically be healed with a simple home remedy treatment. Acne in dogs generally occurs near the chin or on the face and it can be unattractive as well as uncomfortable. Generally caused by a bacterium that has blocked an oil gland, this ailment is usually not life threatening unless the dog scratches causing an open wound which then leads to an infection. Before the acne has time to progress into a real problem, owners can try some treatments right at home to help their dog heal.
First and most important are the don'ts of canine acne. Owners shouldn't use over-the-counter acne medications manufactured for humans. Veterinarians warn that "people" acne treatments can worsen the outbreak and lead to an irritating response in your dog. And whatever you do, don't squeeze the pimples! This can not only be painful to your pet but can cause the pimples to become infected.
Your first line of defense for canine acne is cleanliness. Simply washing the affected area with a warm cloth and an antibacterial pet shampoo can help remove the bacteria that may be clogging the pores. Human deodorant soaps are not recommended because they can also irritate the problem. After a thorough cleaning, add some heat to the acne with a hot but not scalding cloth. Hold the cloth on the area until it has cooled. Do both of these treatments once a day during the breakout. Aloe vera can be placed on the acne to help ease the discomfort your pet may be experiencing.
When a dog is suffering from acne on a continual basis, there could be an underlying problem that will need to be discovered. Some acne can be caused from allergies or a hormonal imbalance. Acne that doesn't seem to be healing or returns constantly can be treated by finding the source of the breakout and removing it from your dog's environment. The allergy could be something as simple as a new type of flea collar to a household cleaner that irritates your dog's skin. Dog's with a hormonal imbalance may need spayed or neutered to cure future outbreaks.
There are some diseases and illnesses that start with pimple-like sores so all other diseases should be ruled out. Your veterinarian can prescribe a topical ointment when acne has been correctly diagnosed. Dog owners should seek veterinarian care when their dog is suffering from bouts of acne, has acne that doesn't dissipate with home treatment, appears to worsen, or if the dog is experiencing any other signs of another illness like lethargy, vomiting, and/or diarrhea.

Humans have acne problems dont they? its the same situation in dogs but I dont think her fur is very clean. She should be bathed like once a week to get rid of any fleas or ticks or even dandruff. Thats the main cause for acne..her coat should be really clean.
When it starts bleeding..put on any anti septic ointment and while bathing her, use a mild cleansing shampoo or anything the vet reccomends. I think its best that you talk to your vet.

I had a chocolate labrador that literally wouldn't shut up. Since I found http://onlinedogtraining.enle.info/?EgBc
She was 4 years old, we had our son and her barking was keeping him up at night. So my grandfather told me take a soda can put some change in it and tape the lid shut (I used duct-tape). Every time she barked I would shake the can and say quiet in a stearn voice. The sound startled her into stop barking then she heard my command. It took about a week and she stopped. You must not allow the dog to bark at all though. If you do then they will do it when they are not supposed to ie, when your not home. As far as for when your not home, I think the only none electrical, spray thing I can think of is a soft mussel. They can drink with the soft mussel on and it doesn't hurt them, they just can't bark or bite. From what I understand it is very hard to get a dog to stop barking at an advanced age. You are trying to stop something that is ingrained in them to do. Now a few questions for you, are the dogs being crate trained? If they are crated trying put a light blanket over the crate, to limit the stimuli around them. Do they have access to windows? What is the reason they are barking? Maybe it is something in there surroundings causing them to bark. Maybe people talking, people walking by, animals outside. If this is the case then maybe try limiting there access to this stimuli. Maybe crating them in a secluded area of the house to limit stimuli. Make it so they cannot see out the window any more. If it is seperation anxiety, take an old t-shirt sleep in for a night and then put it in the dogs crate with him. It will smell like you and help the dog feel more at ease. I did this when I went away to the hospital to have our son. It helped Kaylea alot. These are all thing my grandfather suggested to me for my dog. I tried them all but the crate training as I don't really believe in it. Reducing the stimuli greatly reduced her barking. The only thing that stopped it was the "noise can" I called it
