What to do with a bare, empty, sad spare room?
When I moved out of state to college, my bedroom in my parents rooms looks really bare and empty, and makes my family a little sad. We've already got a guest bedroom, so do you have any fun/creative ideas to fill up my old room? Thanks!

Put the bed against a wall and put throw pillows against the wall side, make it look like
a sofa. Bring in a small desk and make it an office.
Craft room
Sewing room.
Easy chair and a lamp plus a book case for reading room/library.
Just throw pictures on the wall, bring in pillows, fill a book case, new curtains, accent rug, new night talbe and lamp shades.

Turn it into the "library" Set an entire wall up with bookcases, a relaxing chaise lounge (doubles as a fast bed if needed) a table. The style can be anything from fa fa boudoir to masculine contemporary. It can double as a dressing room for the ladies of the house. A good music system in there is a must. If space premits 2 wing chairs with a proper table.
This will still give you a quite place to be when you are home. Get rid of the books stuffed all over the house. Set up properly it makes a great staging room for a future bride. Pictures of family can be put all over the walls artfully.

I would use it as whatever "hobbies your parents like " room....for example, if they are into music and dancing, make it like a music room with a dance floor....if they are into exercise, fill it with exercise equipment and so on.......when my stepdaughter moves out, i plan to turn her old bedroom into a music room where me and my husband can jam!

wow.
I never heard of anyone who doesn't know what to do with a room.
I have a 15 room house and it's overflowing.
Make a nice, cozy den/library.
If this hasn't already occurred to you, THEN YOU NEED BOOKS TOO.
