    I kept my last name when I got married, both in my nikkah and on our legal marriage certificate.

    I don't think they need to anyway... they should keep their fathers name because knowing your family linage is important... why else do you think it's a huge issue when you are adopting a child...

    I'm not planning on adopting my husband's last name.

    It's not permissible in Islam.

    whats in a name and anyway in Islam a women should keep her fathers name even after she is married.
