why is turning 21 in the U.S. so widely accepted?

What i'm saying is that we claim to have the free non constraining government. But we allow them to tell us what to do with our lives. for example the drinking age no where in the constitution does it say the government has the right to regulate peoples personal lives. if drinking by the younger population is so dangerous then let communities deal with the problem. stop enabling the system otherwise we might as well erase we the people from the constitution and replace it with you the government.

It's the modern theory of government: protect the idiot masses from themselves.

What more is there to say?

Okay, it's probably due to a small group of people who hate either alcohol or young people and who have the time and gall to influence who gets elected. It's not the insurance companies for sure, they just hike premiums.
