Hi, I'm 19 and I really x99 wanna go to japan, by myself for atleast 1 whole week. I really wanna ask a few stuff.
aside from the plain ticket. how much money should I bring?
how much clothes should I pack(do they have laundry mats?)
what's the best time to go there? month/season?
aside from a hotel, like maybe, are there people willing to take gaijins(foreigners) in their houses?
so I dont wanna go on further. just give me tips and guides or how you survived your trip to japan.

I make one suggestion to all newbies to Japan. That is travel light.Even in winter you should not overload yourself with clothes/luggage (a major hassle on trains/shinkansen).Summer is very humid and hot, it is best to avoid cotton clothes and wear the new age materials that outdoor shops sell. They are easy to hand wash and dry very quickly.Take deodorant from home with you.Spring and Autumn are great , take casual clothes and layer for the cooler days.Winter can vary from very cool (depends on where you are) to freezing and below. For example, in January 2010 I was at the top of Mt. Aso in Kyushu and there was light snow with ice on the ground and strong winds temp was -9 degrees Celsius.Down below in the town it was around 9 degrees Celsius. The less you carry the more comfortable your trip will be.If you are young and lean then clothes to buy in Japan will not be a problem. I need XL sizes and have little problem finding t-shirts or shirts, shorts and slacks are another story.Stay in Guesthouses ($30 a night), minshuku($50-100 a night with 2 meals) or hostels(from $25 to $40 some sell meals) you will meet people from all over the world as well as the Japanese people themselves.PS; I always have an umbrella, for rain, snow and sun.

Yeah, I've been to Japan. I'm a Japanese citizen but I study in the Philippines.
As for the money, I'm sorry I can't really tell how much you should bring because my mom and brother live there ( Which means I get to live there without financial worries. ) Sorry ):
Pack clothes as many as your bag/suitcase can. And yeah, they have laundry mats.
April is the best month if you want to watch Sakura flowers (Hanami). I attended a hanami party before and it was awesome (: At first I thought it was boring but it turned out great! I'm not really a fan of flowers but the Sakura trees awed me (:
Buy a Japanese-English book, you might need them. (Not many Japanese can speak in English)
Enjoy your trip in Japan (: Man, I envy you! I want to go back there too >.< Ki o tsukete ne <3
