How much more RAM do I need?
I have a computer I run many fps games on, as well as create Word, Powerpoint, Publisher, and Excel documents, and I also surf the internet. I have standard RAM, how much do I need to add to make my computer fast again and quit the lag?
By standard RAM, I mean the stock amount it comes with... which I believe is 512 MB

Ram isn't expensive, I recommend shoving 4GB in, you computer will use all 4 if it has a decent motherboard and a 64 bit operating system, if you have a 32 bit (like me) it will only use around 3.5GB, you may also want to look into graphics cards and processors for speed especially with games.

It may or may not be your RAM. List your computers specs to get better answers.
In my opinion you need 2GB of ram to run games ok not on high qaulity. Theres different types of rams too. make sure you get ram that compatible.

"Standard RAM" means absolutely nothing. How much do you have now? What type? What's your CPU?
If it came with 512MB of RAM, then don't bother. It's likely too old to be worth upgrading.
