I'm lost with lost's ending!?

Everyone made it off of the island and lived their lives respectively (Hurley and Ben helped Desmond go home) and eventually everyone died off... meanwhile the flash sideways were a way for them all to "live" and wait for the final person to die so they could all "let go" and "leave" together. The island and everything was real, Jack died after he plugged the hole. Everyone else died further down the line some other way.

We don't know. Christian, aka Jack's Dad, said that everyone was dead. He also said that whether they died before or after Jack it didn't matter, because time doesn't really exist in "heaven." However, considering that the Hurley in "heaven" said to Ben in "heaven" that he made a good number 2, implies that Ben and Hurley were on the island for some time. If they had died shortly after Jack, then that statement makes little sense. They must have spent some time together for Hurley to have said that

Because we all die in the end at some point, some sooner than others. Ben became hurleys number 2.
