Who are some Italian folk/acoustic bands/artists?

I'm in year 12 studying Italian and my teacher has told us to download some songs do help us with our listening skills. I've tried searching but i havent found anything I like yet.

I'd love anything acoustic, folk, reggae etc.

Anything like John Mayer, Jack Johnson or Bob Marley would be wonderfullllll.

Thank youuu.

One of my favourite Italian rock group "Deasonika" made an album with the same name containing only acoustic songs. My favourite is "Non dimentico più".

As for Italian reggae group you can listen to:

    - Giuliano palma & the bluebeaters

    - Africa Unite

    - Reggae National Tickets

    - Gioman

    - Killacat

    As for Italian folk groups:

    - Modena City Ramblers

    - Folkabbestia

    - Mau Mau

    - Casa del Vento

    - Ratti della Sabina

    Some other artists/bands:

    - Carmen Consoli

    - Jovanotti (but only his latest songs as "Fango", "Baciami ancora" or "A te")

    - Tiromancino

    - Alex Britti

@Gez Lucio Battisti is, if not the best, one of the best artitsts ever lived here in Italy. My favourites among his songs are "Giardini di Marzo", "La Canzone del Sole", "Un'avventura" and "Acqua azzurra acqua chiara"

Italian music, particularly the slightly classical side have their own sort of genre, thus it is difficult to place it as folk, or especially reggae. Nevertheless, the closest I can think of to folk popular music are the artists Angelo Branduardi and Lucio Battisti. My father was a big fan of Italian music, and thus I grew up with this music. Amongst some of my favorites are:

    Angelo Branduardi:

La pulce d'acqua, Cogli la prima mela and Alla fiera dell'est

    Lucio Battisti:

La mia canzone per Maria, Fiori rosa fiori di pesco and Mi ritorni in mente

Hope I was of some help

Fabrizio De andre is one of the best italian artist ever, his songs are almost like poetry, and he does folk music, your teacher would be quite impress if you choose him. But you need to be careful because he did a couple of album in ligurian dialet (Liguria is a northern italian region) and even I don't understand them (I'm italian). But otherwise all his other albums are understandable and really good. The most famous songs are La guerra di piero, la canzone di Marinella, la canzone del primo maggio and many more.

I think he's the best for your homework because he's like the father of the poetic side of music in italy.

I've been on the search for something similar! Just came across "Il Tempo Non Inganna" by Malika Ayane, which has got a great upbeat folk vibe.
