No. of nickels—n:
5n + 10(n - 9) + 25(2n) = 1,080
n + 2(n - 9) + 5(2n) = 216
n + 2n - 18 + 10n = 216
13n = 234
n = 18
No. of dimes:
= 18 - 9
= 9
No. of quarters:
= 2(18)
= 36
Answer: nickels, 18; dimes, 9 & quarters, 36
