Though it's his first season in the SEC, I might have Derek Dooley one or two spots higher. At LA Tech, he did surprisingly well, with what he had to work with. Everything else looks alright.

Norry, I usually always agree with you, but have you lost your mind? lol. Mark Richt #11 in the SEC. NO WAY!! How are Derek Dooley, Joker Phillips, Bobby Johnson and Gene Chizik ahead of Coach Richt? Dooley and Joker have never been a head coach for an SEC game! Richt beat Chizik this past year. What do you mean win our own state? Richt's lost to Tech once in nine tries, and that loss was by 3 points. Richt is without a doubt #4 or #5 in the conference. He's never won a National Title, which is the only thing holding him back. He'll win one soon. I promise!

    GO DAWGS!!

  • 1. Nick Saban - it pains me to say it, really, but there's no doubt he's responsible for the turnaround in Tuscaloosa. These guys were losing to HAWAII, SOUTHERN MISS, and LA TECH before he was hired.

    2. Urban Meyer - Simply put, the Gators have become a College Football dynasty as of late. I mean, they're 46-7 since 2006!!

    3. Gene Chizik - Call me biased, but I am who I am. He has showed so far at Auburn he is a better coach than his record at ISU indicates. "5-19" might be a common punchline, but the guy SELLS Auburn. The players, the fans, everybody LOVES him, and with good reason. In all honesty, I can't remember AU ever having this much fun and hope under Tuberville, even after the 2004 National Championship season! Say what you will about his record, but believe it or not... the guy isn't a moron. In fact, he's the smartest coach Auburn has had since Pat Dye. The guy can coach, but some SEC fans feel he has to prove it. He will.

    4. Steve Spurrier - He doesn't have alot to work with at South Carolina. If he did, they might be almost as good as Spurrier's Florida teams were. Spurrier can coach... but that said.... he has kinda lost his luster.

    5. Bobby Petrino - The best decision he's made so far is to ditch Addias and get Nike, which he did today. He has brought a revival to Fayetteville, and many Hogs fans believe this is the year they return to Atlanta. Of course, Petrino's offense will need a defense to back it up, but when you have Ryan Mallett, you don't need a stellar defense, you just need 11 guys who aren't panzies. I believe Arkansas has that.

    6. Dan Mullen - I could have put him as high as #3, actually. Close race. But very quietly, Mullen is building a good football team in Starkville. The one problem for MSU is that Mullen might bolt for Florida when Mullen leaves, so they had better hope for some great wins soon, or else their true potential might not be unlocked.

    7. Joker Philips - As long as he's been an assistant coach at Kentucky, he should know how to get the fanbase excited. UK might be bad this season, but they'll be a regular bowl soon. Maybe even better than a "Bowl team".

    8. Bobby Johnson - He won 2 games last year with 0 win talent. LOL

But really, he is a good coach, and it won't be much longer before he leaves Vandy for a program with more tradition... like, say..... South Florida.

    9. Derek Dooley - Don't be too hard on the guy. He had some good teams at La Tech, and though he was 17-20, he was a great coach. Besides, I don't think he'll rank so low on your list once you remember who he's replacing at Tennessee.

    10. Les Miles - He can recruit the kind of talent that wins National Championships, but he is known by now for single-handidly losing key games for LSU. I hope he doesn't get a job offer from a clock factory like P.T. Barnum did once he leaves (is fired, maybe) from LSU, because his Time Management is AWFUL. Tigers fans are a little fed up with him at the moment.

    11. Mark Richt - You mean to tell me that in the state of Georgia, which is loaded with talent galore, he can't even win his own state? If he would win the state of Georgia in recruiting, they would be as good as they were in 2007 back. He isn't really a bad coach, and he is a great guy, but you can feel in Athens that his time might just be limited at Georgia.

    12. Houston Nutt - He actually considered leaving Ole Miss for..... Kansas?!?!?!?!? Really?? Ole Miss and Houston Nutt are both dangerous as underdogs, but they don't have Jevan Snead anymore. And before you say that's a good thing.... it's not. The defense will be strong, but the offense will struggle greatly, thanks in large part to Nutt's inability to recruit talent to Oxford like Orgeron could. Ole Miss has a shocking loss to Tulane, that leads to a 4-8 season, and before Houston Nutt can leave, he will be fired. Ole Miss will then hire a big name coach who leads Ole Miss to a BCS Bowl in his second year.

Bye bye, Nutt case, and in the end, no Rebel fans will miss you.

I think I would put spurrier over miles. Yeah Miles has had more success, but his teams have been better simply because recruiting is better at LSU than SC no matter who the coach is. But other than that your list looks pretty good.

And to the Auburn guy, I agree 112% with your #12, all the Rebel fans thought us arkansas fans were crazy for hating Nutt but they will find out sooner or later. But they are finding out pretty quickly. (took us 8 years to figure it out)
