How much cream of mushroom soup should I put in mac and cheese?

My daughter had macaroni and cheese at a friend's house that had cream of mushroom soup in it. I want to try to make this at home, but I don't know how much to put in. All of the recipes I can find online are for "home made" style mac. I'm just using the box stuff.

If I'm using two 7.25 oz boxes of mac and cheese, should I use a full can (10 3/4 oz) of cream of mushroom soup or will that be too much ... or not enough?

I use about half a can for a loaf-size serving of mac & cheese. Put the soup with some milk in a small pot and heat up (but not boil) Add a bag of shredded cheddar & mix in. Add to pasta & toss. You can use the boxed stuff, but you'll probably need to add a little butter (1 -2 Tbsp) and you'll definitely need the milk.

Mac And Cheese With Cream Of Mushroom Soup

  • 1 decade ago

I would just make the mac and cheese like normal, then add a little bit of cream of mushroom soup at a time. That way you know it won't be too much. I'm guessing they didn't use very much.

Make green bean casserole. I think you pour soy sauce in it. I make a sauce to slow cook round steak cubes in, it has the soup, a pkg of onion soup mix and 1/2 cup water, and I can add a little red wine near the end of cooking, but I usually don't. Neither of these recipes taste like cream of mushroom.
