How do I wash all the programs and information from my computer then use the recovery disc ?

My computer is running so slow. I want to completely wipe all programs and information and then use the recovery discs to put back the original programs as the computer was very fast prior. Thanks for any help you can give. Oh and one other thing I am a digital dummy so please make the instructions simple. Thanks again.

Don't listen to any of those other answers. You don't need to download anything or buy more ram.

The recovery discs will erase everything and automatically re-install Windows/Mac OS (whichever you have and use) the minute you put them into your computer.

If after doing this, your computer is still running slow, then I would advise you to either buy more RAM from a store, or to just a new computer.

    I hope this helps!

Using the recovery disc does wipe all of your programs and installs the factory default settings/programs. That is what it is for. However, BEFORE you do this try disc clean-up, defragging, and then download and run malwarebytes anti-malware (its free and can be found at cnet.com). These are all free solutions plus, as Robin, said you can possibly add more ram.

BEFORE you do that, go to Windows Explorer and right click on Computer. Select Properties. A window will open that shows you how much RAM (memory) your computer has.

If you have either XP or Visa you need at least 2GB RAM. If you have Windows 7 you need at least 4 GB RAM for the operating systems to run properly.

My guess is that you computer has less than 1GB RAM,(512MB?) that is why it is slow.

More RAM is no longer expensive and is easy to install.

Upgrade your RAM and you will find it a much faster and more responsive machine.
