God.. Real or just something to get you through the day?

I have a friend who was raped as a child. She was telling me that when it happened she was praying for it to end and for god to help her. Well apparently god did not help her. She was traumatized as a child and is still very angry because of it. If there is a god, why did he not come to her aid? I mean all children are innocent in the eyes of god, right? She, like I, don't believe in any god. If you do that is fine. But I would love for someone to explain why we should change our beliefs when something like this happens to the innocent all of the time. This is a serious question so I don't need any remarks that we are going to hell. I am just asking an opinion of why you believe there is a god. Do you have any proof?

Update:

if all someone knows is evil and hate how can they see anything else? how are they going to believe that there is a god when nothing in this world has ever shown them that there is one? how can anyone expect them to open their heart when something like this was allowed to happen to them?

    There's much proof..but if your eyes are blinded by lack of faith, then you cannot see any proof. It is faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior that gives the believer the Holy Spirit who indwells them, who in turn removes the blinders sin has put on. The Holy Spirit also gives them understanding of God's Word, peace that surpasses all human understanding and comfort in times of need. With spiritual matters, spiritual discernment is needed...but then again..IF the blinders remain, there is no sight for you. Satan wants nothing else but to lure people from God, Truth and for those blinders to remain. It is YOU who needs to invite Jesus into your heart. Terrible things happen in this sinful, depraved world. Mankind makes poor choices and satan is the prince of this earth for now. Soon, Jesus will rid this earth of evil and satan. Jesus will rule and reign forever. Read the bible and know God. God bless
