Why is Obama afraid to meet with AZ Governor Jan Brewer?

Obama called the law "misguided" even though he never read it, and Ms. Brewer wants to meet with him because it's such an important issue and would like to clarify any misunderstandings the President might have. His excuse was that he "doesn't have time". He was supposed to meet with Netanyahu of Israel early in the week but now that Netanyahu isn't going to be there, that's one less item on his agenda. Later in the week he had an extremely important meeting with the MLS champions (definitely more important than the illegal immigration crisis). No matter how busy the President might be, if the President wants to meet with someone, arrangements can be made. What's he afraid of?

Update:

@A.E. so meeting with the MLS champions is more important than the illegal immigration problem? And if the president WANTS to meet with someone, there is always time.

He knows he's wrong, and just like libs on here, who also know they are wrong, meeting the other side in a fair debate never ends well for you. Difference is, he can't just start calling her names like the libs here can. So meeting her would just get him sent home the laughing stock of the nation and her looking even more like a hero, and he knows it.

At the time, there was no time available, although that may change now since Netanyahu canceled his meeting with Obama for later in the week for reasons completely unrelated and not of Obama's doing; they apparently were ready to put their differences aside, but there is a controversy in Israel at the moment.

The ball is now in Brewer's court to ask specifically for Netanyahu's time slot, tomorrow. Brewer has to ask for the meeting first (to answer Additional Details), AND Brewer is in DC tomorrow.

BTW, Obama has appeared on Fox exclusively.

Obama is protected by standing in front of his bully pulpit camera and pronounce to the country what he thinks. He has no issues conducting a one sided speech. It would be to his political death to engage Brewer in person. She knows it, he knows it and anyone with a brain knows it. It'll never happen.

If he never replied back to her in the months leading up to the AZ law, why change now. Now......Obama would end his career by meeting her. She would blow him out of the water in less than a minute. And even MSNBC couldn't ignore the opportunity to show the after math 24/7.

Obama talks tough, but he is truely spineless on this as he should be for self preservation to his future.

Jan Brewer isn't going to be intimidated by a "beer summit", and Obama would have trouble talking with his foot in his mouth anyway. He is clearly wrong on the issue and most Americans support Jan Brewer on the "Arizona bill". Obama doesn't have anything to gain by making an *** out of himself.

He doesn't have his proof of citizenship papers in order.

Especially the part about how he was supposedly born in Hawaii, but he has a Connecticut SSN.

Was his supposedly white mother acutally his nanny to cover up an illegitimate birth in Connecticut?

"Hey, what are we going to do with this b*stard kid?"

"Let's send him away. FAR away. What's the farthest state from here?"

"Hey, Hawaii just became a state. Let's find some feeble minded girl in Hawaii to take him..."

and the rest of the story was built up around that.

0bama's nothing but a coward when it comes to facing the people he disagrees with. He sure has his opinions about what he calls "the misguided media," yet he refuses to show his face on Fox News. 0bama is a very laughable man.

Why is Obama afraid to meet with AZ Governor Jan Brewer?

She's a blonde white woman (good looking for her age)... he doesn't want to be confused with Tiger Woods.

Actually, when the president says he doesn't have time to meet with the Arizona governor, he means that she is an irritating little person, and meeting with her would lend her legitimacy.

His schedule is not the issue. Governor Brewer's misguided actions are. President Obama does not intend to signal to the country that he takes her seriously at all by meeting with her.

If the governor thinks that the president might have any misunderstandings of the new Arizona legislation, she can certainly dash off a note or send an e-mail to clarify herself. I doubt she'll do that, though...it wouldn't be the kind of grandstanding that she likes.

His very fragile ego would not stand the strain. He has such a delicate disposition you know.
