What dialect does Lee Boardman have on 'Road Wars'?

Swedish TV has been running the UK TV series called 'Road Wars' with Lee Boardman as narrator. I really love his accent, and wonder if that's a genuine Manchester accent (I understand that's where he's from)? Or is it fake/exagerrated?
