touch wood :-- with luck (from the superstition that certain trees,usually the ash and oak,could giveprotection against evil)
It is usually uttered while knocking the knuckle of the index finger on any object close by.

not necessary...but few people are superstitious...and if anything bad happens if they dont touch wood then all sorts of worst things they'll think....so it all depends on a person's thinking

ya this is a superstitious thing but wad we all don realise is this isnt the original superstition...when it originated it was touch 'hood'.... god noes how it became touch wood !!!
