What is your opinion of cover songs?

Cover songs RARELY end up good in my opinion, Im mean the tributes and all are good but you can't cover just any song

Poison " You Mama don't dance" originally by Loggins and Messina

Lenny Kravits " American Women" originally by The Guess Who

David Lee Roth's " California Girls" originally by The Beach Boys

Quiet Riot " Come on feel the noize" originally by Slade

Guns and Roses " Knock in on Heavens Door" originally by Bob Dylan

B: The Maine's version of "Pour Some Sugar On Me" originally by Def Leppard

Dolly Parton "Stairway To Heaven " originally Led Zepplain

Sheryl Crow "Sweet Child O' Mine" originally Guns and Roses

Britney Spears " I Love Rock 'N' Roll" originally by Joan Jet

Shakira "Back In Black" originally by ACDC

Celine Dion "You Shook Me All Night Long" originally by AC/DC

I think Cover Songs are generally a nice way of saying, I have alot of respect for your music.

As long as they're not doing it to be funny or whatever.

Some good cover songs are,

Cake- I Will Survive (Gloria Gaynor)

Sublime- Scarlet Begonias (The Grateful Dead)

Johnny Cash- Hurt (NIN)

Zwan- Number of the Beast (Iron Maiden)

The Blood Brothers- Under Pressure (Queen)

Some bad ones are,

Kid Rock- Feel Like Makin' Love (Bad Company) (Although, I don't like the original much, Kid Rock def. didn't do it anymore justice)

Brittney Spears- I love Rock and Roll (Joan Jett and The Blackhearts)

Aerosmith- Come Together (The Beatles)

Some covers are "bland copies" some are nice tributes,

and some take a good/great song to a HO Nuva Leva! (whole nother level)

A. Covers that pay tribute to the song while the artist adds their own unique flavor to it without butchering it.

B. Covers that exactly same as originally recorded, or the artist tried to hard to make it different and makes it suck.

is the greatest cover song ever created.
