The deepest well in the gulf is currently 35,055 feet by BP (a little less than 7 miles) with about 4,132 feet to the sea bed and the remaining through rock.

The well pressure would be about 20,000 psi.

Obama was using the off shore drilling as a way to get environmental bills that he wanted to put into play passed. It did blow up in his face but on the other hand where is the republicans drill baby drill now? They were the ones advocating strongly for this and now what?

1 mile down.......they are drilling at about the deepest point ...

the reason they are drilling there is retarded "tree huggers" got laws passed to move them away form shorelines in case of accident....only problem is now all the stuff that would stop a leak in shallow waters don't work cause of the depth...
