homeless but if that meant i was on the run from something i would rather go to jail and get it over with

If I was homeless I'd prolly steal to survive and end up in jail anyways

In jail. I know I would have a criminal record, but you get everything done for you. When you are homeless, you rely on other people to supply for you, and that's no guarantee. Buy when you are in jail, the people are forced to give you a bed, food, water, and laundry.

hmmm, lets see... in jail, i'll get 3 squares, a bunk and access to a shower. i sure hate bummin it and smellin like funk so being homeless would suck! however, i'll be free to roam the streets - i hear bums make a good living by pan handling. i'll take homeless for a year.
