why does the ps3 turn yellow then shut off, and how can i fix this?
my ps3 light was red then when i touch it to turn it on it turns green for a second beeps twice and then turns orange after so it turns back to red why is it doing this and how can i fix it?

well hate to break it to you but you have the Yellow Light of Death meaning it is a hardware failure and you will have to send it to SONY to get it fixed if it is under a year then you will get a free fix but if it is a year or older it will cost you $150+tax

I'm assuming you have a 'fat' model.
You have the YLOD (Yellow Light of Death). This is the equivalent of the Red Ring of Death in the 360, except Sony charges $150US to fix this.
You could try looking around the Internet (esp eBay for local electronics shops that can fix this problem for less than Sony). I haven't had this happen to my 60GB but the older fat models are susceptible to this problem and it is fixable.
There is also a good tutorial on a self fix written by TeamGunstar on the GameFAQS PS3 General board. Look for it or ask about it there.
