how do i get photos to save on my sd card and not my phone memory?

I have two phones. One is my personal phone and one is for business. Check your "tools" or camera settings in your phone. It's bound to be in one of those. You may have to go on a little hunt to find it, and perhaps check sub-menus within the menus.

On my LG Chocolate3 flip phone, I need to do this-

Go to "settings and tools", scroll down to "memory", click on "memory", then click "save options", then click "card memory", finally click "save".

On my Nokia 6133 I need to do this-

Go to "fun and apps". Click on "gallery". Next, scroll down to "media", then scroll down to "camera options", click on "camera", then click on "options", next scroll down to "image storage" and click on "media card".
