Comeuppance ? I haven't heard that word in years.?

This morning I dreamed that I was a camper in a summer camp with a very disliked camp counselor. Somehow, he got stranded in camp with no food and had to survive for a few days by eating crackers he made of shredded newspapers, flour and salt.

When everyone got back to camp and rescued him, they all referred to his paper mache crackers as comeuppance, as if this were the normal name for this food. "All he had to eat while we were gone was comeuppance." I laughed so hard about this name, that I woke myself up. What do you think? I had to look the word up, to make sure I knew what it really means. I'm 61 years old, by the way.

This is why I love working with dreams - each one is more creative than the next! Someone needs his comeuppance, does he? Well, the rule of thumb is that characters in dreams represent the dreamer, but you're an awfully good sport if you're the one eating comeuppance crackers.

I'm guessing this nasty camp counselor could be somebody you've seen in the newspapers, since that is what the crackers are made from. More than one sterling hypocrite has gotten his public comeuppance recently, particularly certain men who have been trusted with little boys/campers. But this public figure probably also represents somebody from your own past.

As a child camper, counselors, teachers, and clergy/priests seemed very large and powerful. From the perspective of your present age, that counselor doesn't seem nearly so intimidating. So the little boy who has always been inside yourself is finally justified and thoroughly delighted.

To dream that you are camping, indicates a need for relaxation and a long-deserved break. You need to be more in touch with nature and go back to a more basic and simpler life. Alternatively, it refers to your social circle and support group. You are looking for a sense of belonging, but at the same time be self-sufficient and independent.

To hear laughing or dream that you are laughing, suggests that you need to lighten up and let go of your problems. Don't put so much pressure on yourself. Laughing is also a sign of joyous release and pleasure.

That disliked camp counselor had it coming!!
