How to prevent looking "ghostly" in photos?

I wear make up daily to look fresh and polish. The problem is, everytime if my pics are taken i notice that sometimes my face looks 'ghostly' where my face complexion in photos are pale. what kind of makeup products should i use to avoid this problem? btw i usually wear foundation and loose powder. for touch ups i just use a compact powder. i have a combination skin where my T-zone area gets oily while the rest part of my face are normal. recommending the products would help much :)

You look ghostly because of the SPF(basically sunblock) in the coverup. The SPF reflects light, therefore making you have a ghostly appearance in photographs. Use a foundation like photo ready by revlon or a "high definition" foundation. SPF is important though, and you should wear something that has SPF in it to protect your skin from UV rays..

To get professional results, you need professional skills. A skilled photographer can get a professional looking photo from a cell phone camera. An inexperienced photographer -- sorry to say, that's you -- would get poor results from a $15,000 Hasselblad. If you're interested in becoming a photographer, you must invest the time and attention to learn photography. The first thing you need, of course, is a camera. Go to a store and ask the salesperson to show you digital point-and-shoot cameras that will allow you to use manual controls when you learn enough to use them. Do not let him or her talk you into getting an SLR. You'd be spending more money on a camera that will not give you any better results at your skill level and might overwhelm you with its complexity. Some have suggested getting a used SLR for less expense. Perhaps they have not heard that a camera is on the list of ten things that you should never buy used. There's a good chance that it has been damaged. It might have even been stolen. Do you want to deal with these possibilities with your first camera? After you get your camera, take lots of pictures. Join an on-line photographers community where you can post your photos for critiquing. You'll learn a lot that way. There are also on-line photography courses. Or join a camera club in you community. If you have a friend who is a photographer, ask them to take you on a shoot and help you evaluate your technique and results.

    For pictures avoid:

    - Sun screen/cream

    - Foundations for photos e.g Revlon photoready, yes i know strange right? The reason for this is because it contains glitters or light refracting particles to give you a luminous appearance but this works to your disadvantage because if you get the wrong angle/light then you will look like a ghost

    - Same goes for photo anything e.g. powder

    Use:

+ A translucent setting powder with no oils and no talc so it soaks up oils and not encourage them [ELF hd powder is cheap and good]

+ IF its still out of control carry blotting sheets like ones from elf, you get 50 for $1

+ A bronzer for under cheekbones and forehead can look very natural, again elf has a nice one thats good for pale complexions

    Good Luck <3 :)

The "ghostly" look you are describing is a white cast you get from wearing products with SPF. They reflect light, so when pictures are taken you look a lot paler. If your powder is a blotting powder, it could also be causing this effect. Try using products with little to no SPF and blot your face with blotting tissues instead.

I would say it would have to be the powder causing a ghostly complexion. Maybe try switching powders and look for one with a little more depth in color. Also try bronzer. You don't want your face to be too matte and single toned. Create contours and put in color and you should be fine.

Use some bronzer and make a fish face when you apply it(:

apply some light pink blush to the apples of your cheaks, and some bronser below cheekbones, nose, forhead... where the suck would naturally kiss you.

    try using a matte bronzer
